THE PROBLEM
Mezcal has long since been an artisanal and locally crafted liquor from specific regions of Mexico. Unlike its cousin, tequila, it is less known in the states and often not considered a finer spirit. Expresión’s mission is to introduce a high-end, hand-crafted product that meets the demands of any fine whiskey drinker.

The Story
Mezcal is a distilled spirit made from the agave plant. Just like champagne, mezcal has regional distinctions. Unlike tequila, it is distilled in in-ground fire pits filled with wood and charcoal, giving it its unique flavor and ability to taste multi-dimensional — and it doesn’t have to taste like smoke.
All agaves have different expressions, and the regions where they reproduce also bring different flavors, thus giving name to this highly complex and rich mezcal.
The logo design was influenced by the strict regional production and hand-crafted traditions of mezcal while also considering the need to create a high-end product.
The branding couldn’t stop at a bottle design. To complete an elevated experience, I needed to show that the brand would perform across multiple platforms and was more than a two-dimensional logo.
